An AAAA record is an IP within the newly presented IPv6 format and it consists of eight different groups of hexadecimal digits, unlike the IPv4 IPs, that include four sets of numbers in between 1 and 255. An illustration of an IPv6 address would be 3014:0d43:23a3:2354:1320:8f3b:2635:3254 and in this format the total number of IPs that could be created is many times greater than the number of the IPv4 addresses. Every domain name has its web hosting server IP as a record and in essence, that record tells the domain name where the site for it can be found. Depending on the system that the company uses, the record is going to be called A (IPv4) or AAAA (IPv6). Changing this record will allow you to host your Internet site with one provider and your emails with another, so if you choose to use such a redirection to point a domain address to a server that uses an IPv6 address, you'll need to set up an AAAA record for it.

AAAA Records in Cloud Hosting

If you need to create a new AAAA record for any domain or subdomain hosted in your cloud hosting account, it will not take you more than several simple steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel is rather intuitive to use and it'll allow you to create or modify every single record with ease. Once you log in and visit the DNS Records section, in which you'll discover all present records for your domains and subdomains, you'll just have to click the "New" button, pick AAAA from a small drop-down options menu in the pop-up that'll show up, enter or paste the necessary IPv6 address and save the change - it's as easy as that. The new record will be fully active within only one hour and the hostname you have created it for shall start opening whatever content you have with the other provider. If needed, you are also going to be able to edit the TTL (Time To Live) value, which indicates the time in seconds which the new record will be working after you eventually change it to something different or you simply erase it.
