Password Protected Directories
See how to set up a secure and user-only area in your website with password-protected directories.
A password-protected directory is a folder which cannot be accessed unless the proper login credentials are supplied. This can be an entire website or only one page that is in a subfolder. If you try to open this type of a directory, you'll see a browser pop-up where you will need to type a username and a password. In case you type the right ones, you can continue exploring the content without the need to do anything more. When the login details are not accurate, however, you will see information that you are not permitted to view the content. When this function is enabled, you won't be able to open a file even when you have a direct link. The function is quite handy if you'd like to restrict the access to some content or if you work on a website and you don't want visitors to be able to access it prior to it being ready.
Password Protected Directories in Cloud Hosting
If you use any of our cloud hosting products, you will be able to make password-protected areas without difficulty even if you don't have any experience with this sort of matters. We have integrated an incredibly easy-to-use point-and-click tool in the Hepsia CP, which comes with all accounts, so you'll be able to shield any folder within merely seconds. You'll simply have to pick a domain or a subdomain and the exact folder that should be protected (the main one or a subfolder), and then to input the preferred username and password that will be used to access the folder in question at some point. Each secured folder shall have padlock icon in the File Manager section, so you will be able to see instantly what content is secured and what is not. When necessary, you could make a number of sets of login details for precisely the same folder.
